Origins of Third Worldism: How Stalin innovated upon Jefferson’s Southern Strategy
The trajectory from Monticello to the Comintern is not a deviation, but a direct line of descent. To understand the current geopolitical decomposition of the West—manifesting in the red-green-brown alliance and the weaponization of Third Worldism—we must exhume the corpse of Thomas Jefferson. We must recognize him not merely as a Founding Father, but as a willing co-conspirator in the undermining of Alexander Hamilton’s Federalist project, a man whose spiritual allegiance lay not with the orderly liberty of the English tradition, but with the blood-soaked radicalism of the French Jacobins.
Hamilton sought to build a cohesive, industrial, hierarchical nation-state capable of projecting power—an "American System" rooted in stability. Jefferson, conversely, looked upon this order with the eyes of a landed aristocrat who acted, suspiciously, like a foreign asset. Having served as Minister to France during the gestation of its terror, Jefferson returned to America arguably as a "Jacobin agent of influence." His "Democratic-Republican Societies" were modeled explicitly on the Jacobin clubs of Paris—proto-soviets designed to bypass constitutional governance through mob pressure.
Jefferson’s "muckraking"—executed through hired pens like Philip Freneau and James Callender—was the seedbed for Pravda. He understood intuitively what Lenin would later codify: that the press is not a mirror of reality, but a hammer to shape it. By funding newspapers to spread salacious lies about Hamilton and Washington, Jefferson was not engaging in "free speech"; he was piloting the first "Active Measures" campaign in American history, importing the "Red Wheel" of revolution before it even had a name. He flooded the zone with the "sludge" of his era, mobilizing the resentment of the agrarian periphery against the financial center to serve the interests of a foreign revolutionary ideology.
This proto-Jeffersonian Southern Strategy instrumentalized the "dumb illiterate southerner." Jefferson and his heirs imported the problem—the contradiction of a slave-holding aristocracy preaching liberty—and then used the yeomanry to uphold a "Democracy" that was actually a cover for oligarchic agrarianism. These foot soldiers were encouraged to seethe over perceived slights from the urban North, conserving a "Heritage Americanism" that was, in reality, a shield for the planter class. This created a permanent "nation within a nation," a fracture point waiting to be exploited.
This fracture point was weaponized by the Bolsheviks in 1928 with Stalin’s "Black Belt" thesis. This directive was the Left’s innovation on the Jeffersonian strategy. Stalin commanded American communists to advocate for self-determination for the African American population in the South, effectively recognizing them as a subject nation with the right to secede. This was the seed of the modern 1619 Project. Just as Jefferson used the white Southerner to destabilize the Federal center, Stalin sought to use the Black Southerner to shatter it entirely. The 1619 Project is not merely revisionist history; it is the fulfillment of Stalin’s geopolitical goal: to lampoon America not as a republic to be improved, but as an irredeemable, racist colonial empire that must be dismantled.
Enter Steve Bannon and the modern mechanics of "Dialectical Reflexive Control." Bannon is the direct heir to Jefferson’s muckraking, but industrialized for the digital age. His doctrine—"flood the zone with shit"—is not merely about confusion; it is about inducing epistemic exhaustion. It mirrors the administrative "nudge sludge" theory of Cass Sunstein. While Sunstein uses bureaucratic friction to herd the masses ("nudging" them towards technocratic solutions), Bannon uses informational chaos to radicalize them. They are the two hands of the same process: the conspirators create the problem (informational anarchy) and sell the solution (authoritarian control).
This manipulation has a specific historical lineage that links the American Right to the Bolshevik Left via Thomas Müntzer. Joseph Stalin and Friedrich Engels deeply admired this radical German theologian. As noted in recent analysis, Stalin even received Müntzer’s papers as "communist relics." Why? Because Müntzer represented a "proto-communist" Liberation Theology. He used the cover of the Reformation not to reform the church, but to smash the Monarchy, preaching that the "godless" princes must be "strangled with no mercy" to restore the "origin" of the world. Lenin explicitly encouraged his followers to use right-wing, democratic, or patriotic language to further the turning of the Red Wheel, just as Müntzer used biblical language to advance a class war.
This brings us to the "Woke Right" and the realization of Horseshoe Theory, as elucidated by James Lindsay and Michael O'Fallon. The 1939 Project is solidifying as the mirror image of the 1619 Project.
Lindsay and O'Fallon argue that the "Woke Right" is not a reaction against Wokeness, but an adoption of its fundamental mechanics. It is the application of Critical Theory to Right-wing identity. The Horseshoe has closed:
The Left Prong (1619/Stalin): Uses the "Black Belt" thesis and Black Liberation Theology (via Marcuse and Adorno) to frame America as systematically racist.
The Right Prong (1939/Müntzer): Uses Christian Nationalism as a form of Right-wing Liberation Theology to frame America as systematically "anti-White" and "Godless."
Both factions now utilize the same weapon: Christian Nationalism as a vehicle for antisemitism. For the 1619 Left, Israel is the colonial oppressor. For the 1939 Woke Right, the "Zionist Occupied Government" is the liberal oppressor. This validates Zineb Riboua’s analysis of the "Red-Green-Brown" alliance: the "oppressor vs. oppressed" binary of Third Worldism has been swallowed whole by the American Right.
Caught between these pincers was Leo Strauss. He saw the nihilism of Adorno and the danger of the "Red" tide. He hoped to counter this by fortifying the American mind with Classical Rationalism (Athens). However, by fundamentally denying or downplaying America’s Christian founding (Jerusalem), replacing and explaining away the Golden Rule of the Gospel with the unmoved mover of first principles “natural rights”, Strauss in his antihistoricist revisionism disarmed the defense. He offered an esoteric philosophy that could not compete with the raw, "seething-stewing" emotional power of Liberation Theology. He left the American conservative spiritually dead, making them easy prey for the "1939" radicalization.
The "seething-stewing-sentimental-resentfilled" alliance is the result. Dugin’s genius—and the goal of Russian active measures—is to merge these resentments. He uses the "dumb illiterate southerner" not to uphold Democracy, but to invite the "Red Wheel" to crush it. The Woke Right, nudged by Bannon’s flood of "shit" and Sunstein’s "sludge," is no longer conserving the American Republic. They are participating in a Dialectical Reflexive Control operation where they demand the very thing the enemies of the West want: the end of the Hamiltonian state. The Red Wheel turns, greased by the very people it will crush.
Excuse the convolution of this essay as I zoom out of the particular to the general and hope to synthesize what is a confluence—a conflagration—a poly crisis of history and praxis.
